What is the lifespan of the images?

Using the latest in colorfast ink and media technology, we estimate the lifespan of an un-coated image to be roughly 60 years for color images and 100-150 years for black and white images.

All images from Pixel2Canvas are coated with a UV protectant which effectively doubles the colorfastness of our canvases.  So you can expect these images to be proudly hung on the walls of your families homes (or space domiciles) for generations to come.

How long does the order take?

We're a busy bunch of bees here at Pixel2Canvas and our printers run day and night when necessary.  We are committed to having your image in and out the door as quickly as our production schedule allows.

We ship from 5-7 business days from receipt of your order, then FedEx Ground takes 3-4 business days to get to you. If you've asked to see a web proof, please add one or two days for emails to run back and forth. If you have a question about the status of your order, just drop a line to customerservice@pixel2canvas.com and we'll let you know where it's at.  As a registered member of our artist program, you can check the status of your orders online from your Order History.

Do you have printer profiles?

We utilize the default Adobe RGB (1998) profile which is the standard Photoshop and Elements profile.  All images are checked for tone and color prior to printing.  If you are interested in test prints to ensure proper color and tone, please send us an email and we will be happy to arrange test prints of your image.

Guarantee?

We guarantee you're going to be THRILLED with our art prints and canvas creations.  While we cannot guarantee that nothing will ever happen, we will guarantee that we'll find a way to make it right.  We understand that our success is 100% tied to your success and satisfaction.  You WILL be happy and we GUARANTEE it!

How is my order delivered?

Well, Santa Claus has a great delivery record (he's been on time for centuries) but we need to ship more than once a year.

We have found that FedEx Ground provides fantastic, reliable service - 3-4 business days to most locations. Should you need a shipping quote with another service, please let us know and we'll be happy to accommodate you.

You will receive a tracking number from FedEx on the day your order ships. Remember that you can check on your order status every now and then, and see notes from the production department. Just log in to the Artist Program and go to My Account, then My Orders.

All stretched canvases are put in a clear poly bag snuggled in bubble wrap before boxing. All you have to do is unpack the box and hand the canvas to your client! All unmounted prints are protected by a plastic film, rolled, and shipped in a sealed mailing tube.

What are the mounting options?

Our goal is to provide you options when it comes to your art.

Unmounted, Styrene-Mounted (up to 20x24), Standard (3/4 inch) and Gallery Wraps (1.5 inch) are all available online.  If you have a question about other services, let us know and we'll work to accomodate your artistic needs.  Need a 4 inch wrap to really stand out?  Ask us about it.  Need a size that's not listed?  Let us know.  We cut all of our framest to size, so custom sizes are EASY! We'll make it happen!

Don' see what you're looking for? Tell us what you want and we'll see if it works to bring it to our catalog.

What sizes are available?

Any size is available - just check out the price list for the most popular sizes, but if you don't see it, just drop us a line and we'll tell you how to order it.

For special sizes, let us know what you need and we'll let you know what we can do.  If you have a specific need for something really out of the ordinary, let us know. We haven't seen any triangular wraps yet, but who knows?

If you envision it and we can print it...let's make it happen!

What is the Artist Program?

Our Artist Program is specifically designed for individuals in the Art and Photography community who want a personal relationship with their printer (and also get great discounts to boot!)  If you're an artist who is interested in offering your customers a top quality canvas or art print, register as an Artist, and check us out.  We're sure you'll be glad you did.

How large of a file can you accept? Type of file?

As long as the file is at least 4" x 6" at 300 dpi we can blow it up to almost any size, so you don't have to send a mongo file. You can upload a file up to 8mb, so if you're GOING BIG, just reduce the image size by half - a 16x20 becomes a 8x10 - still at 300 dpi. Our RIP program automatically resizes the image without missing one teensy, tiny pixel of clarity. If you reduce the image size, STILL ORDER IT AT THE SIZE YOU WANT PRINTED - we'll get it.

Most all formats are acceptable - EPS, TIFF, PDF, JPG. We use the Adobe Suite of products, so if you HAVE to send us a source file you could - but we don't recommend it.

Is the canvas finished and ready to hang?

Starting with the launch of Pixel2Canvas on the web, we've decided that we will complete our artist canvases in a ready to hang fashion.  This means that each canvas will be covered across the back with paper to cover staples etc, and we will provide hardware to hang the canvas in each order.  We feel that as a professional provider, that going the extra mile will be worth it in customer loyalty.  Sure its a little more work for our framing team, but we think you'll appreciate it.

What are your shipping prices?

Currently, our shipping prices are $15.00 for FedEx Ground. Yep. Any order, any time. At least until we get the FedEx shipping engine fixed, then each shipment will go by weight - and will still average $10-$15 per order.

HOWEVER - if you've got some lollapalooza order with gynormous canvases, we'd ask that you kick in a bit for the shipping. We're sure you understand. ;-)

Do You Ship to Canada?

Canada? Take off, eh?
Of COURSE we ship to our neighbors in the Great White North!
Here's the 411:

Shipping is usually FedEx  International Ground, unless you really, truly, want us to use another method. Shipping charges are $20.00 for basically every order. Unless you have some GINORMOUS order, then we'll ask you to kick in for the extra. This does NOT include brokerage and duties. Those are your responsibility. On average - for a 4 pound box, around $100 in value, duties are about $10.00 US. You MAY or MAY NOT be asked to pay for this when you receive your package. If not, you'll receive a letter from FedEx later on. They're just trying to get the packages out as fast as they can.

We are currently working with FedEx to PAY THESE UP FRONT FOR YOU! Of course we'll bill you for them, but at least you don't have to worry about the customs later on. So stay tuned, eh?

How do I prepare my image for printing on canvas?

This is without a doubt our most-asked question. It's actually pretty easy once you've got the first one under your belt.

Gallery Wraps
You need 2" extra ON EACH SIDE for the wrap. Think of it as wrapping a box, and you need paper for the sides. So - a 16x16 finished size becomes a 20x20 when it's submitted. Here's what you do:

  1. Open a blank 20x20 file in Photoshop, 300 dpi (or the same dpi as your image). Bring your ruler guides in 2" from the top, bottom, left and right.
  2. Place your file into this one on a new layer. What you see in the middle is the FACE of your canvas, and what is outside your guides is the wrap! EASY!

If you have enough real estate in your original file, great! If not, you can:

  1. Add a colored or patterned border - ANY color or pattern. Add this extra space on the Canvas layer - not your image layer.
  2. Add more space on the canvas layer and clone the sides. We DO NOT, and WILL NOT digitally stretch. If you need help with this, just ask - that's what we're here for!

Standard Wraps
Same as above, only you need 1" extra on each side. The wrap does not have to be a color - the image can wrap as well.

Once again - if you need any type of help at all - please ask. We'll get right on it. We were all new at something once, right? We LOVE educating people about this wonderful and VERY cool medium!

TROUBLESHOOTING

If something goes wonky, like you get an error message or your cart is miraculously empty, follow the following guidelines:

  1. Make sure your file size is 8mb or smaller.
  2. For instance: if you're ordering a 20x20 (24x24 for a gallery wrap) cut the file in half - to a 12x12. Save it as a Quality 10 jpg - Quality 12 is NOT NEEDED and adds LOTS of file size.
  3. If you're on a Mac, use Safari. PC, use Internet Explorer. NEVER USE FIREFOX.
  4. If THAT doesn't work, make a small thumbnail of your image - 2x3 or so, 100 res, Quality 10 - upload your order with that and in the Customer Comments tell us that you're emailing the full-res file.
  5. If NONE OF THAT WORKS - email me and we'll work something else out! Send me an email at roxanne@pixel2canvas.com.
